Do you not feel pretentious at times

Pretention is trying to make it seem like things have deeper meaning than they really do, so if I ever feel pretentious I ask myself, “Do I know why this is there? Can I explain this creative decision, even if the answer is just, ‘I take pleasure in this thing being in my work’ or ‘This is an authentic expression of what I’m thinking/feeling’?” And if I find that I can explain the meaning behind it then I know I’m not being pretentious
